Your library, as a TV app
The groups and channels you follow, as a grid of their photos. Continue watching and your Pinned chats sit at the top. Hold OK on a chat to pin it or hide it.
VueGram shows the groups and channels you follow as a grid of their photos, and plays their videos on your TV, streamed straight from Telegram. Made for the remote. No bots, no middlemen, no analytics.
Unofficial app. Not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Telegram.
Features
VueGram is built for the couch: big cards, a D-pad that always knows where it is, and nothing in the way between you and the video.
The groups and channels you follow, as a grid of their photos. Continue watching and your Pinned chats sit at the top. Hold OK on a chat to pin it or hide it.
OK pauses. Left and right jump 10 seconds back and 30 forward; hold to keep adding. Back leaves.
A chat's videos and video files as a 16:9 grid with thumbnails, length, date and size, newest first, with a search field for that chat.
Telegram's own search, across every group and channel you follow at once.
Resume any video at the second you left it. Finished videos get a watched mark. All of it stays on the TV.
When the TV's hardware decoder refuses a file, VueGram tries another decoder, then Android's software decoders. Still no luck? It opens the video in mpv at the same spot.
VueGram shows a code on the TV; you scan it with Telegram on your phone under Settings › Devices › Link Desktop Device. No SMS, no login email, and the code refreshes itself until it is scanned. Phone number and 2-step verification work too.
VueGram looks for a new release at most every 12 hours. When there is one, an Update button appears in the library. Nothing is installed unless it passes every check.
MIT licensed. Even TDLib, the Telegram library inside, is built from its own source at a pinned commit, so anyone can check what runs on their TV.
How it works
VueGram is built on TDLib, Telegram's own library. A video is fetched from Telegram
by the app itself and handed to the player through a tiny server that lives inside the app and only
answers on the TV's own address, 127.0.0.1.
Nothing is forwarded to a bot or a download service. Your account talks to Telegram directly.
Video goes from Telegram to the TV and nowhere else. There is no VueGram server in the middle.
The parts you watch are deleted afterwards, so videos never pile up on the TV's storage.
Privacy
VueGram has no account of its own, no analytics and no tracking. Here is everything that leaves the TV, and everything that doesn't.
This website is the same: no cookies, no analytics, no trackers. The only outside requests are the Outfit font from Google Fonts and GitHub's public API for the latest version number.
Install
For Android TV and Google TV, Android 6.0 or newer. VueGram is installed from its GitHub releases page.
Sign in at my.telegram.org and create an app to get your own API ID and hash. VueGram asks for them on first start.
Download the latest .apk from GitHub releases and install it with ADB or a downloader
app on the TV.
Scan the QR code on the TV with Telegram on your phone. Your groups and channels appear, ready to play.
No. VueGram is an unofficial client built on Telegram's own library, TDLib. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Telegram.
No. VueGram is free and open source under the MIT license.
Every app that talks to Telegram identifies itself with an API ID and hash. VueGram asks you for your own, which you get for free at my.telegram.org, so your copy talks to Telegram as itself. How to get them.
It needs no SMS and no login email. Telegram sometimes asks for a paid SMS or a login email before it sends a code to a phone number; the QR code avoids both. You scan it with Telegram on your phone, under Settings › Devices › Link Desktop Device.
No. Videos are streamed, and the parts you watch are deleted afterwards.
VueGram's player tries other decoders by itself. For the rare file none of them can play, install mpv-android: VueGram then opens the video there, at the same position. See troubleshooting.
No. VueGram is installed from its GitHub releases, and after that it can update itself.
